On a blistering cold day in Washington, after a dusting snowfall I went downtown to photograph at the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial. Dr. King was a civil rights leader and servant for the cause of human rights and civil rights for all people. Continue reading “MLK Day:: Blue and Whiskey” »
Do you think anything like me enjoying the last of the Christmas decorations because everyone seems so cheerful? I caught the last of one although we know by the liturgical calendar the celebration is now officially over on January 6th. We all know the Christmas story of the wise men following the star bearing gifts of gold frankincense and myrrh. I drew inspiration being aware that the gold in Christ deems the gold in all of us. I paired mixed metal tones. A metallic coated sweater with a gold lame knife pleat skirt. I added in blue accents and layered a blue bun necklace for a contrasting pop. The dainty French feather tam elevates the look to a chic vintage style. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! Thank you so much for reading, and Happy New Year! Frigid temperatures here lately that it’s been a bit too cold to shoot. I styled up this beautiful polyurethane faux leather knife pleat skirt with a colorful eel diagonal striped jersey paneled top. This combination provides a slight edge of color blocking with supple leather. Knife pleats are trending right now. I am a sucker for skirts and this one can be worn to the office or cocktails. I layered this beautiful midi with a shearling and topped it off with a cable knit beanie hat. I coupled the accessories with beige gloves and black tall heel boots. I appreciate the sharpness of this look even on a cold frigid day. Continue reading “Frigid :: Jersey Panel Top & Knife Pleat Skirt” »
Stepping on eggshells, literally! I love wearing creams, eggshells and winter white during the cold season. The color although a neutral, is very robust and versatile hence its subtle boldness makes a declaration. I paired a wool band waist rear double split skirt and a small honeycomb pullover knit sweater together. I draped the look with a lightweight wrap coat. I also kept the neutrals in a monochrome fashion by pairing with my favorite silver jewelry and silver cap toe dark gray booties with a gray and black clutch for a dressy casual chic style. Sharing another look of a leather skirt and a leather jacket in a casual, yet dressy style. This look is great for the office since the skirt is blue and the classic crossover sleeveless blouse is white. An alternative in lieu of the traditional all polyester work attire. I created a similar effect in the monochromatic leather look with this slightly distressed trench in red and black. I accessorized the look with my favorite pieces from the embellished gold and black wide waist belt and mixed the stud look on the suede pumps and navy clutch. Bridging fall and winter together. I layered a black lace top and a voluminous flared tiered skirt that translate girly girl. The element gives more of a party style and a less traditional look. This outfit is great for a holiday community gathering or a chic cocktail party. I combined the top and skirt with wrap around tie heels. To unite the style I layered the whiskey mink texture over the black to elevate the look. The autumnal accents of the leaves in the backdrop provide a nice color scheme.
It’s really starting to look a lot like Christmas, everywhere I go! It’s unbelievable that we are at year end for 2016. We have just finished Thanksgiving and now the Christmas season. I really don’t know where the time went. Playing with holiday colors, I put together this color block of a scarlet silk blouse that has a layered scarf front and a tie waist. The black leather pencil skirt is a staple for fall. I finished the skirt and blouse with a tan leather trench. I added a bit of embellishment with the chestnut handbag and gray cap toe booties. Yay! It’s Black Friday! One of the biggest shopping days for the last quarter when everyone rushes out to the malls and Walmart to catch the best sales that this season can offer. I for one am more excited about Cyber Monday. I am a fan of shopping after Thanksgiving, but I will pull out this year. My energy level is not up to par for the crowds and all the walking. I will browse the internet to find out what is offered and may be tempted. At present, I really don’t need anything and could use a few big ticket items hence, I can wait patiently for after Christmas. I would be interested to know your plans for Black Friday, where are you shopping?
Who needs a black and white dalmatian to pose on a truck when you can have a stylish blogger outside your doors, just kidding! Playing with stripes in this slim monochrome black and white stretch stripe dress punctuated with a cascading flounce wrap-effect ruffle positioned on the sided for a flattering draped effect. I adore the edgy aesthetic of this piece that can easily transition from day to night. Since the dress has a long hem line that covers the knee, I styled it with a metallic gold embellished heel black leather luxe boot. I used the back drop as an accessory to give this look a high-impact punch. Continue reading “Fire Engine :: Black and White Stripe Dress” »
