Steamed Maryland Blue Crabs

During this time of year mostly everyone within the boarders of the District, Maryland, and Virginia loves and enjoys steamed crabs. If you do not have shellfish allergies, nor mind picking and tossing the shells, this is an effective way to get a messy dining night. If you are just like me, I grew up on eating them. My grandmother would take us to the parks during the spring and summer to enjoy, and there are many different ways to prepare for a more elegant dish. I was taught that a month with the letter “r” in it, such as April the crabs are not as hearty. I have found this myth to be true from experience. Needless to say when got to have them you got to have them? I purchased female medium crabs from Today’s a local merchant that specializes in fresh seafood. I feast on them alone or with friends and family that are crab lovers.

Birthday Blessings

Happy Birthday Banner

This week I’ve been all giddy celebrating my birthday. I am so grateful to be another year wiser. The expression of love and the many birthday wishes has truly overwhelmed me. I strongly feel that this is the year of triple favor and blessings and I have an open heart to both give and receive.  I also enjoyed dining out and later opening my gifts. [Read more…]

Power Lunch at Panera

Today, I was out picking up amenities for the home since I’m in the process of reorganizing – it’s pretty extreme. Initially, I planned to pick up a table that I purchased at Home Goods. Turns out I really need to own a Sport Utility Vehicle instead of my little sports car.   Therefore, I continued to shop,  so that it would not be a wasted trip.  It was pretty light, yet I needed to re-fuel with some power food and a little comfort, so I opted for Cheddar Broccoli Soup and Greek Salad with grilled chicken at Panera Bread.

Seasons52

I had an experience at the Seasons52 Restaurant. I wanted to try something different in lieu of the stuffed mushrooms and their traditional Greek Salad.  Today I thought I would go for a good piece of fish, so I ordered the Branzino because I had not tasted a nice piece of bass since my visit to Carpaccio’s in Florida.  Well to my surprise and somewhat of a delight the fish was not cooked all the way, when the waiter kindly removed the lemons for me. Once the young Sous Chef got word he immediately came over to apologize and explains that they had a new cook on board.  Hey, I’m easy I told him that things happen. So they re-cooked it for my takeout, and  I decided to order another entree which was their Filet Mignon with sautéed Spinach and Mushrooms. I don’t eat red meat as much as I used to, but you can never go wrong with a good piece of steak.  I enjoyed every bite! To compliment my happy dining experience they gave me dessert, armaretto cake coupled with coffee,  it was absolutely decadent.  Here is the steak and a snapshot of the menu.
