It is with great sadness that esteemed author, poet, playwright and activist has passed on.  I was introduced to her autobiography ” I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings.”   in high school for a mandatory reading lesson. We had to read and then write an essay.  Her story was extremely compelling and empowering.   Dr. Angelou’s strong will, grace and her poise with her inspirational poems and quotes has been a whisper to me at times when I had no idea that I was even being led.
